First place and Grand Prize Winner Chef Cheri Holmgren of Homegrown Catering of Joshua Tree, California with her Confetti Shrimp Salad.
Second place went to Executive Chef Matthew Broucaret of Amador City, California with his California Wild Rice Salad with Grilled Corn, Butternut Squash and Spanish Sherry Vinaigrette.
Third place winner was the Sun-dried Cranberry and California Wild Rice Salad created by Corporate Chef Connie Deadly of Santa Monica, California
Sides Division:
First place winner was Chef Mark LoRusso of Las Vegas, Nevada with his Manchego & California Wild Rice Arancini with Avocado Dip.
Second place went to Corporate Chef Connie Deady of Santa Monica, California with her Smoky California Wild Rice Cornbread.
Third place winner was Research Chef Kelley Heldt of San Rafael, California with his creation - California Wild Rice Cakes with Sweet Potato, Almond, and Dried Cranberries.
Starters division:
First place winner with his California Wild Rice Galettes with Smoked Salmon and Caper Tartar Sauce was Chef Michael Compean from Valencia, California.
Second place went to Food Writer Kristina Vanni of North Hollywood, California with her Savory California Wild Rice Biscuits with Chive Butter.
Third place winner Chef Helena Giesea of Monte Rio, California created California Wild Rice & Beef Cabbage Wrap with Crunchy Ricotta Cheese and she was also the third place winner in the photo division.
Photo division:
First place winner was blogger Roland Denzel with his California Wild Rice Tamales photo.
Second place also went to blogger Roland Denzel with his California Wild Rice and Salmon Cream Cheese Roll photo.
Third place winner Chef Helena Giesea of Monte Rio, California with her photo of California Wild Rice & Beef Cabbage Wrap with Crunchy Ricotta Cheese.
The judging for the contest was held at California State University, Fresno, under the direction of Klaus Tenbergen, Culinology program director and assistant professor. Tenbergen's Culinology students prepared each entry according to recipe instructions.
